One-year Research Merger The goal of the Research Merger is to promote sustainable research cooperation between Swiss and Latin American scholars and produce accountable scientific outcomes in domains which have been identified as priority by both Latin American and Swiss institutions. This instrument is also meant to provide a medium-size format that goes beyond the Seed Money Grants to give an opportunity for new or the maturation of existing projects, and increase the chances for further activities on both sides of the partnership. The one-year Research Merger includes the organisation of collective workshops, conferences, and fieldwork. It is also to foster initiatives for mobility of 1 or 2 young researchers (PhD candidates and PostDocs) of the group and will support their stay between two weeks and two months (requiring a clear previous research plan). The Leading House opens the first call on July 6, 2017, inviting Swiss scholars to propose mono- or interdisciplinary research projects in any Latin American country, involving bilateral or multilateral partnerships. Depending on quality and availability of funds, 1 - 3 projects can be financed per year. Considering that one of the roles of the Leading House for the Latin American Region is to identify research areas, the next call for 2018 might ask for a thematic focus (i.e. digitalisation, water, or food) covering all disciplines. Budget between CHF 30,000 and CHF 50,000 Application Applications shall be submitted in electronic format to the University of St.Gallen Leading House for the Latin American Region: email@example.com Deadline September 30, 2017 Important Notice Researchers can only apply for one financial instrument of the Leading House for the Latin American Region, either Seed Money Grant or one-year Research Merger.
